Our People
Our dancers form the core of Momentum Dance Perth, supported by our committee orchestrating behind the scenes.
Our donors and contributors, through their commitment and generous support, play a pivotal role in providing us with the invaluable backing we require.

Patron

Jacqueline El-Saleh
During the 1970s a small youth ballet company was formed in my hometown of Esperance, directed by Tamara De Nicolai, a former professional dancer with the State Opera House in Berlin. In this company, at the age of 5, my joy of dancing was ignited.
Since this time my love has seen me immersed in a variety of local adult dance communities and classes. It is through these organisations, such as Momentum Dance, that the Dance community can remain a constant companion on life’s journey.
By supporting Momentum Dance Perth, a mature performance company composed of life-long dancers, I am investing in the preservation and promotion of inclusivity within the arts. Offering financial assistance celebrates the wisdom, resilience, and artistry of seasoned dancers who value their craft.
This support not only empowers older artists but sends a powerful message about the timeless nature of creativity ensuring that the stage remains a vibrant space where the beauty of dance transcends age and inspires generations.

Artistic Director

Liz Cornish
Liz is a founding member of Momentum Dance Perth, has choreographed a number of our performed works, and is leading us in the development of our 10th Anniversary performance.
She believes that as we accumulate time, we need to keep exploring possibilities. We hold a store of information in our bodies and dance is a great way to share them.
Having been involved in the dance and movement world for nearly 60 years, Liz has myriad experiences as a dancer, rehearsal director, tour manager, choreographer, and teacher. She danced professionally with David Parsons Dance Company, Chrissie Parrott Dance Collective, 2 Dance Plus/Buzz, and has also held positions of leadership within these companies.
As a founding member of Parsons Dance in New York, she honed her organisational skills as dancer, rehearsal director and tour manager; and was also a rehearsal director with Chrissie Parrott. Under the expert guidance of Phillippa Clarke at 2 Dance Plus, Liz developed her teaching skills to include a wider range of ages and abilities. Most recently, in 2024 Liz juggled many hats to successfully guide MDP through their Unveiled season at the State Theatre Centre.
Alongside dance, Liz has taught Pilates since 1986 adapting her teaching skills to accommodate all sorts of physical challenges; and since 2015 she has taught seated dance classes based on the Dance for Parkinsons model. This has further developed her movement palette and opened new avenues for movement possibilities beyond standard dance norms.
Additionally, Liz’s many valuable connections within the dance industry position her well to guide Momentum Dance Perth through this next phase of its evolution.
